01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
Amber liquid catches the light as a shaker sounds softly behind the bar. On the 2 floor of Tokyo Station Hotel, BAR Oak offers a chance to savour a well-made drink away from the bustle of the station. The stately, calm interior retains red-brick details and has both counter seats and comfortable tables—a setting that invites you to slow down.
Start with the cocktail named for the station
The first drink to look for on the menu is the bar’s signature, The Oak Style “Tokyo Station”. Made with gin, it brings together a deep aroma and a gentle bitterness, making for a cocktail with a sense of place. A classic Martini or Gimlet is another polished choice, and the selection offers different ways to begin the evening.
Compare whiskies across vintages
The breadth of the whisky selection is another reason to settle in at the counter. Yamazaki is available from 12 to 18 years old, with a 25-year-old expression too, offering a chance to compare how ageing shapes the aroma and texture. Hakushu, with its fresh forest notes, includes 12- and 18-year-old expressions. Take your pick of a style—on the rocks, neat or with soda—and enjoy it at your own pace.
A pause between journeys, or a final drink of the day
Small bites and sandwiches are also served to accompany the drinks, with table service for a relaxed visit. The bar is open from 17:00 to 21:30 on Tuesdays through Fridays, and seats can be reserved. Whether you stop in at the end of a business trip or holiday, or drop by to talk with someone dear to you, BAR Oak offers a quiet change of pace.
